Share Your Art The Mennello Museum of American asked Orlando artists to share their work in this coloring book to help our community heal. We encourage you to download, color, and pass on your own beautiful expressions of love on to someone else.

A Gift for Teaching (Orange County)

Host a school supply drive.

A Gift for Teaching (Osceola County)

The Osceola County location will be open on June 12th from 7am to 5pm to accept school supply donations. They are in need of crayons, pencils, loose leaf paper, glue, Ziploc bags, compasses, protractors, watercolor sets, disinfectant wipes and small plastic cups. Office location: 2310 New Beginnings Dr., Kissimmee, FL 34744.

ArtWorks Orlando & St. Luke’s United Methodist Church

Volunteers will work together to create a mosaic that will be displayed in the Winter Garden community.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Florida

Host a school supply drive.

Children’s Home Society

Volunteer with Children’s Home Society on June 12th, from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. to help provide a clean and comfortable space for moms and babies in the Perinatal Program. Volunteers will clean the play space that moms and babies share and will help to organize a closet of donated items for mothers. Children’s Home Society is also accepting gently used baby and toddler items. Individuals under 18 years old must have a parent/guardian present. Email karakerlin@chsfl.org if interested.

Clean the World

Volunteer to help pack 4,900 hygiene kits which will then be distributed to different organizations in Central Florida and to the countries who also lost loved ones in the Pulse tragedy. Update: All volunteer opportunities for this event have been filled.

Coalition for the Homeless

Sign up to take a one-hour tour of the Coalition for the Homeless facility (7:30am or 11:30am) to learn more about the organization and volunteer opportunities throughout the year. The Coalition will also be accepting donations from their Immediate Supply Needs list.

commUNITY Rainbow Run

Join a 4.9K on June 10th to honor the lives lost in the Pulse tragedy and celebrate the diverse backgrounds that brought us together in the healing process. A portion of race proceeds will benefit the Zebra Coalition and the OnePulse Foundation.

Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida

Drop off new baby items for babies in the hospital or take part in the handprint rainbow wall mural, located in the children’s playground. Sign up here to participate in this special day.

East Winter Garden Community Initiative & St. Luke’s United Methodist Church

Volunteers will assist in painting 2 homes for lower-income families in West Orlando on June 12th.

Feeding Children Everywhere 

Help package 10,000 meals for each of the 49 victims – for a total of 490,000 meals. These nutritious meals will be distributed to their home countries, honoring their memories and bringing hope to others.

First Presbyterian Church of Orlando & Camaraderie Foundation

Impulse

Impulse Group Orlando invites you and your family and friends to attend a uniquely whimsical storytime on Monday, June 12th at 5:30pm at the Orlando Public Library. Join us for what promises to be a laugh filled reading. Update: Registration for this event is full.

Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association

On June 16th, the Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association will be offering free preparation of simple wills, advance directives and Durable Power of Attorney for the LGBTQ+ community and residents of Orange County.

Libby’s Legacy Breast Cancer Foundation 

Libby’s Legacy is joining the #ActLoveGive movement by providing free mobile unit mammograms on June 12th. Call 407-898-1991 and simply say “Act. Love. Give” to schedule a free mammogram.   

Love Must Win

Help create and pass out handmade hearts with message of encouragement in the downtown area on June 12th:
8am – 4pm: Downtown Information Center, 201 S. Orange Ave., Orlando, FL (corner of Orange Ave. and Church St.)
Evening: There will be a booth located at Lake Eola for the Orlando Love: Remembering Our Angels event.

Mustard Seed of Central Florida

The Mustard Seed Furniture and Clothing Bank helps rebuild the lives of families and individuals who have suffered disaster or personal tragedy by providing household furnishings and clothing. Volunteer to help clean, sort donations, assist in the thrift store or recycling operations.

Help save a life by donating blood at various locations in downtown Orlando and throughout Central Florida.

One Heart for Women and Children

Orange County Public Library – Pulse One Year Later

From June 11 through June 15, the Orange County Library System joins Orlando in reflecting on the year that has passed since the shooting at LGBT nightclub Pulse. Join us for a series of events that celebrate diversity, show support for our community, and ask people to consider how Pulse has changed us.

Local band Sugar City will perform their song “World of Love,” which was inspired by the Pulse tragedy and recorded at the Melrose Center. Local poets will read poems they composed in memory of the events of June 12, 2016.

Love YA!: A Celebration of Diverse Young Adult Literature

Reflect on the events that have impacted our community and commemorate the Pulse tragedy with a panel discussion of diverse young adult authors including Alex Sanchez, Shaun David Hutchinson and Jenny Torres Sanchez, moderated by Lauren Gibaldi. Ages 13 and up.

What Has Changed?

The Orlando Public Library hosts an art show that addresses the question What Has Changed? In April, local art-supply store Sam Flax put out a call to artists asking them to create works of art that reflect the artists’ feelings about what has changed since June 12, 2016, when 49 people were shot at LGBT nightclub Pulse. Sam Flax donated the art supplies that went into creating the pieces in this show, which will be on display at the library through July. The Orlando Gay Chorus will perform, followed by Latin guitar/percussionists Antone Affronti and Adalberto Bravo. Participants will be invited to make short videos of themselves discussing what they think has changed in our community over the past year.

Special presentation of renowned muralists Michael Pilato and Yuri Karabash’s multi-canvas mural (work in progress) depicting victims, survivors and those who responded to the tragedy. A behind-the-scenes account of the impact of the Pulse tragedy in our community as experienced by some of the very people who lived through it and are depicted in the mural.

The public is invited to the Melrose Center Video Studio to share their stories about how the Pulse tragedy has impacted them and the community as a whole. Stories will be uploaded to the library’s Orlando Memory website, which documents the city’s history.

Orlando Gay Chorus

Help staff the Orlando Gay Chorus booth at the Orlando Love – Remembering Our Angels event at Lake Eola Park on June 12th.

Orlando Love – Remembering Our Angels 

Volunteers to assist with crowd control (assisting guests with finding restrooms, viewing, seating and local restaurant locations) during the Orlando Love – Remembering Our Angels event at Lake Eola on June 12th. Volunteers will arrive to Lake Eola at 4pm to help set up and support the event from 5pm – 10pm. Update: All volunteer opportunities for this event have been filled.

Orlando United Counseling 

Volunteer to assist at the Orlando United Counseling Center (June 12th or 13th) or at Pulse related events. A volunteer orientation meeting will take place on June 5th from 12pm – 2pm.

Pet Alliance 

Show love and kindness to a homeless animal by volunteering at the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando.
Update: this opportunity has been filled by family and friends of Jerry Wright, one of the 49 victims of the Pulse shooting.

Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida

Join Planned Parenthood volunteers at “Orlando Love: Remembering Our Angels” as we stand in solidarity together against gun violence and discrimination. Please RSVP with Julia at julia.desangles@ppswcf.org if you plan to join us on June 12th.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida 

Join Second Harvest Food Bank as they sort and prepare 49,000 lbs of fresh produce to be distributed in our community.

Host a supply drive for Shepherd’s Hope Health Centers.

Volunteer to be a member of the Angel Force on June 12th.

United Against Poverty

Assist in the Member Share Grocery program by organizing, stocking food on the shelves and bagging food for members.

Warrior ONE Yoga

Warrior ONE Yoga is offering “49 Sun Salutations” classes that are free/donation based for anyone who would like to practice yoga and meditation.  This is a wonderful way for our community to come together in a calm and healing environment to practice self care. All donations will benefit the OnePulse Foundation. Classes will take place at the Warrior ONE Studios, located at 2822 Corrine Drive, Orlando, FL 32802. Yoga teachers are also available to provide yoga and meditation classes for the community at a business or public/nonprofit organization’s location.
