Our Inspiration

In the aftermath of the Pulse tragedy in 2016, organizations came together to meet the needs of our traumatized community. This informal partnership grew into the One Orlando Alliance, a coalition of diverse organizations honoring the memory of the lives taken and all those affected at Pulse by serving and strengthening the LGBTQ+ community. Through a multi-sector network of partnerships, One Orlando Alliance is transforming Central Florida into a community where all LGBTQ+ people can belong and thrive.

The Alliance Agenda, co-created by members of One Orlando Alliance, honors the Pulse victims and builds on our promise to them of looking to the future by identifying the top 10 issues affecting LGBTQ+ safety, equality, and well-being in Central Florida.

On June 12, 2016, Orlando experienced one of the worst mass shootings in American history.

All told, 49 lives were taken, 68 were injured and countless individuals were impacted by the tragedy at Pulse nightclub. Most of those victimized identified as LGBTQ+, Latinx and/or Black/African-American.

Acts of Love & Kindness

Acts of love and kindness from across the nation and beyond have showered our community since that fateful day in June of 2016. We continue to encourage expressions of compassion and unity through the #ActLoveGive movement. Beginning each year on April 25th and culminating on June 12th, now known as #OrlandoUnitedDay, these 49 days are dedicated to honoring the 49 lives taken at Pulse while showing love to their family members, the survivors, the first responders, and all who were affected by the tragedy.
