After an extensive and thoughtful search process, the Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Josh Bell (he/him/his) has been named Executive Director of One Orlando Alliance.

Today, a coalition of over 40 LGBTQ+ organizations released the third edition of the Alliance Agenda, an annual report identifying the top 10 issues affecting LGBTQ+ safety, equality and well-being in Central Florida.

The Executive Director of the One Orlando Alliance shall principally be a results-driven individual responsible for the organizational and financial management of the organization and for carrying out the strategic priorities of the Alliance.

It is with a mix of sadness and gratitude that the Board of Directors announces Jennifer Foster’s forthcoming departure as Executive Director of the One Orlando Alliance. As detailed in her Letter of Resignation, this anticipated decision is aligned with the two-year agreement made when she stepped into this role.

49 Bells to Toll in Honor of the Victims of the Pulse Tragedy
On Friday, June 12, 2020, at 12:00 p.m. bells will toll 49 times virtually, for the first time due to COVID 19, in unison around the world as a tribute to the victims lost during the Pulse night club tragedy. Mothers of the victims are calling upon churches, temples, synagogues, mosques, and businesses to join them on social media this year by attending and sharing the virtual event and showing solidarity with messages of love and kindness on their public signs.

Acts of Love and Kindness Movement
Orlando United Day: A Day of Love and Kindness serves to honor and remember those taken at Pulse nightclub on June 12, 2016. “Acts of Love & Kindness” is a homegrown movement that inspires the Central Florida community, and beyond, to spread love and kindness by supporting those in need. This year, the Orlando community will focus on spreading Acts of Love & Kindness virtually due to the public health crisis caused by COVID-19.

Response to Florida House Bill 1365
The rights of LGBTQ+ people in Florida currently stand in a precarious state. Members of the Florida Legislature have crafted a harmful bill that threatens medical professionals with 15 years in prison for providing life-saving care to transgender youth. The proposed transgender youth medical care ban (HB 1365) is a deliberate attempt to target our state’s most vulnerable youth and comes at a time of unprecedented attacks on transgender Americans across the country.

Orange County Business Resolution
By resolution, today the Board of County Commissioners of Orange County formally recognized the importance of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning/Queer+ community to the local economy. The resolution also calls for County staff to use the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce’s certification criteria to monitor the County’s utilization of LGBTQ+-owned business enterprises in Orange County procurements. Community activists are organizing an event to assemble supporters calling for an ordinance to ban conversion therapy in Orange County. The rally builds upon the momentum of a petition launched by Central Florida LGBTQ activist Andrew Chang on the website change.org.
